Walmart customers who pre-order GTA 6 may get something extra in the package: a mystery item described as a "surprise and delight bag". The claim surfaced on November 1 and 2, 2026, through posts on X, and Kotaku and Insider Gaming have both reported on it. Neither Walmart nor Rockstar Games has announced it, and nobody has said what is inside.

That leaves a small story with some real gaps. Reports differ on who qualifies and how the bag reaches you, and the Walmart text behind it may already have changed. Here is what holds up and what doesn't.

What's Confirmed

Rockstar has only announced bonuses that apply across retailers, and none of them is this bag:

  • Every pre-order of either edition includes the Vintage Vice City Pack, a digital bundle with a 1955 Vapid Stanier sedan, an Ocean Beach garage, outfits, hairstyles and a weapon pattern.
  • PlayStation Store bundles also list one month of GTA+ as a pre-order extra, which auto-renews.
  • Standard Edition costs $79.99 and Ultimate Edition $99.99 on the US PlayStation Store.
  • The physical edition is a box with a download code. Rockstar Support says a disc will not be included.
  • Preloading opens on November 12, and the game launches on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

What's Being Reported

The reports trace back to two posts on X.

Insider Gaming, writing on November 1, cites the account ForwardLeaks, which credits another user. That post says, "Rockstar Games is partnering with Walmart to do an online pre-order promotion," and that "each online pre-order" will receive the bag inside the package. Insider Gaming describes it as limited to select Walmart stores, with orders placed online, collected in store, and pickup starting November 12. It says it asked Walmart for comment, and no reply appears in its report.

Kotaku, on November 2, points to a post from the deals account Nintendeal, which said Walmart pre-orders "will have a 'surprise' included with the delivery." Kotaku says Walmart's page has seemingly been edited since, and that Nintendeal captured text which had mentioned a pre-order bonus. Beebom, also working from Nintendeal's screenshot, says the offer covers the physical edition on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S while stocks last, ships from November 12, and calls the item a "GMD" bag. RockstarINTEL credits a Discord user and Walmart's backend.

We could not read Walmart's listing ourselves, because the site blocked our access, so we can't say what it shows today.

Where the Reports Disagree

  • Pickup or delivery. One version says in-store collection at select stores. The other describes delivery.
  • Rockstar's role. Only the first X post says Rockstar is a partner in this. Rockstar has not said so, and Beebom notes Rockstar hasn't confirmed any physical bonuses.
  • The contents. Fans are guessing at snacks, a map or Vice City trinkets. Kotaku says some expect something like the Pringles and Coke packages Walmart sent to Switch 2 pre-order customers. All of that is speculation.

Should It Change Where You Pre-Order?

We wouldn't choose a retailer based on this. It is unconfirmed and reportedly limited, and it could turn out to be a few snacks. Kotaku also says Walmart "has been having some trouble fulfilling its pre-orders this past week", which is worth weighing if having your code on November 12 matters to you.

The game itself is the same wherever you buy it. A boxed copy still means downloading the full game, and that download is reported at 210GB on PS5, though Rockstar and Sony haven't confirmed the figure.

What to Watch Next

November 12 should settle most of this, since that is when the first boxes are reported to reach buyers and any bag would turn up with them. Before then, watch for a statement from Walmart or a new version of its product page. We'll update this if either company goes on the record.
