Vice City is back. After more than two decades, Rockstar's Miami-inspired metropolis returns as the centerpiece of Grand Theft Auto VI — the neon-soaked heart of the wider state of Leonida.
This is a modern, fully reimagined Vice City, not a remaster of the 2002 classic. Official trailers and screenshots have shown a sun-drenched coastal city of art-deco hotels, palm-lined beaches, glowing pools, and a skyline that stretches across the water.
What Rockstar has shown
Everything below is drawn from official Rockstar media — trailers and released screenshots — rather than gameplay leaks:
- Beaches and nightlife: Crowded stretches of sand with lifeguard towers, plus the glossy hotel-and-pool scene Vice City is famous for.
- A living city: Dense traffic, high-rises, and a diverse cast of residents going about their day.
- Vice City energy: The sleaze, the glamour, and the crime that made the original a fan favorite, rebuilt with today's tech.
Vice City sits within Leonida, Rockstar's take on the state of Florida — the biggest and most detailed GTA map to date. The city is one of several named regions players will explore.
Vice City's role in the story
GTA 6 follows dual protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style duo, with Lucia the first female lead protagonist in the series. Vice City looks set to be a major backdrop for their story, though Rockstar has not detailed exactly which missions play out there.
What we *don't* have yet is a full district-by-district map, confirmed interiors, or a list of activities — anything at that level of detail remains unconfirmed. As Rockstar reveals more ahead of the November 19, 2026 launch, we'll keep this guide updated with confirmed information only.
