Real-world cars dressed up as GTA 6 vehicles were filmed driving around Miami on October 15 and 16, 2026, in what looks like the latest beat of the launch campaign for Grand Theft Auto VI. The footage came from local social media accounts and was picked up by IGN, Insider Gaming and Push Square on the morning of October 16.
To be clear about sourcing: Rockstar Games has not posted about the cars on the Newswire or its social channels as of this writing. Every outlet covering the story describes it as something Rockstar "appears" to be doing. We are doing the same.
What Was Seen
The clips, first shared by the local account ONLY in DADE and by fan accounts including GTA 6 Info and iGrandTheftAuto.com, show a tight convoy of wrapped cars with fictional Leonida license plates. Leonida is the game's version of Florida, and the plates match the ones seen on a Suzuki used in an earlier tease.
The standout is a Lamborghini in police livery. IGN identifies it as a Huracán and reads the markings as VCPD. Insider Gaming and iGrandTheftAuto.com describe the same car as wearing Vice Beach Police livery. Both police forces exist in the game's marketing, so we are not picking one until a clearer image surfaces.
IGN also lists the rest of the line-up as real cars modified to resemble in-game models:
- A McLaren styled as the Progen Emerus.
- A Corvette wrapped as the Coquette, which Insider Gaming says carried a Vice City wrap.
- Lookalikes of the Cheetah, the Coquette D10, the Tempesta and the Manana.
ONLY in DADE's footage shows some of the cars parked at a gas station while a Goodyear blimp carrying GTA 6 advertising hovered in the distance. Push Square adds that clips on Instagram show Vice City branding being installed around the city and planes towing promotional banners.
Why Real Brands Appear on the Cars
GTA has never used licensed car brands, so a Lamborghini and a McLaren on the street are not a sign that real marques are in the game. Rockstar builds fictional equivalents, and the wrapped cars simply borrow the real models that inspired them. The in-game vehicle names used above come from the outlets' identifications, not from a Rockstar list.
The Wider Miami Campaign
The cars are one piece of a campaign that has been building for weeks, nearly all of it reported second-hand rather than announced by Rockstar:
- Push Square reports that the Miami Heat will play as "Vice City" for one night on November 18, the eve of launch.
- Earlier reports from TweakTown and Notebookcheck described large "Welcome to VI" panels behind the Kaseya Center and a Miami Beach commission vote approving large-scale GTA 6 advertising.
- The Miami-Dade sheriff publicly objected to the idea of turning the city into Vice City, according to Dexerto.
Reaction online has been largely positive. IGN quotes fans praising the police Lamborghini and joking that Miami treats a game launch like an ordinary Tuesday.
What Is Confirmed and What Is Not
Confirmed by Rockstar: the game launches November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the launch trailer went out on October 15, and preload opens at local midnight on November 12.
Not confirmed by Rockstar: that the Miami cars are its campaign, who built them, how long they will tour the city, and whether anything similar is planned elsewhere. The sheriff's objection and the city vote come from local reporting and public records, not from the company.
What to Watch Next
If this is Rockstar's work, the Newswire or the official GTA VI social accounts will likely show the cars properly, as happened with the limited-edition DualSense controllers. We will update this story the moment an official post appears. Until then, treat the convoy as a very convincing sighting and the vehicle names as the outlets' best reads.
