Rockstar Games released the Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer on Thursday, October 15, 2026, with no advance notice. It went up on the Rockstar YouTube channel, the company's X account and the official GTA VI website at the same time, alongside a Newswire post that repeats the November 19 release date. It is the first new trailer since Trailer 2 in May 2025, and for the avoidance of doubt, the "Trailer 3" that circulated in June was a fabrication. This one is real.

What the trailer shows

The trailer runs about 90 seconds, and Rockstar says every shot was captured in-game on a standard PlayStation 5, not a Pro. That matters because the footage is a representation of what most players will see at launch.

The focus is the partnership between Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. The cut moves between the two of them in cars, on boats and in the streets of Vice City, with the state of Leonida stretching out behind them. Two details have driven most of the discussion since it dropped:

  • A shower scene between Jason and Lucia, which confirms the tone of the relationship Rockstar has been signalling since the cover art.
  • An ankle monitor on Lucia's leg. The community reads it as a parole device tying into her prison backstory. Rockstar has not explained it, so treat that as a reading of the footage rather than a plot fact.

The soundtrack is a new track from Justice called "Flower in a Hurricane," featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Rockstar's official GTA VI music page credits Justice as the game's original score composers and lists the single with those featured artists, so both details are confirmed. The track is one of nine singles released so far from Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the 34-track official soundtrack arriving with the game on November 19.

There is no release-date change, no platform news and no multiplayer reveal in the trailer. Studio head Rob Nelson had already told Famitsu this week that the game is shipping on time, and the Newswire post backs that up.

Pre-order editions

Pre-orders have been open since June 25. The Standard Edition is $79.99. The Ultimate Edition is $99.99 and, per Rockstar's store listing, includes:

  • A '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and the Paradise Garage, a one-car personal garage in Watson Bay
  • A '95 Grotti Cheetah
  • A Dinka Enduro motorcycle and a Crest Kayak
  • Retro Build mods for the Vapid Ganado
  • The Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie's mod shops
  • Classic Car Collection missions
  • Personalised variants of Jason's Girardi ES9 and Lucia's Klose K17 pistols

Every pre-order of either edition includes the Vintage Vice City Pack with a 1955 Vapid Stanier, an Ocean Beach garage, outfits and hairstyles for both leads, and a weapon pattern. Take-Two has said pre-orders are skewing toward the Ultimate Edition but has not published figures, and it has said it will not publish raw pre-order counts.

Preloading opens at local midnight on November 12 for digital purchases. The physical edition ships as a box with a download code rather than a disc, so it needs the same download. Our Day One Guide has the storage and preload checklist.

The Vice City DualSense controllers

Sony has announced two Limited Edition Grand Theft Auto VI DualSense controllers, both available November 19. The black edition is modelled on Vice City's neon nightlife and the white edition on its daytime coastline. Both share a colour-shifting finish, palm-tree moulding on the grips, a VI logo on the touchpad and pink face buttons. Inside they are standard DualSense pads with the usual haptics and adaptive triggers.

Sony is selling them in limited quantities through PlayStation Direct where available and through select retailers elsewhere. Pre-orders were reported to open on September 10 at $84.99 in the US, and the Direct listings have been flipping between low stock and unavailable, so check them directly rather than relying on a third-party restock tracker.

What to watch next

Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick described the August Netflix showcase as an hors d'oeuvre with a main course still to come. A launch trailer five weeks out fits that plan, and it leaves room for more before November 19. Anything else Rockstar posts will hit the Newswire first, our Rumor Tracker second, and @thegta6zone the moment it lands.
